Kozo Sugimoto of Japan created this gorgeous clematis in 1992 and it has since been enjoyed in gardens throughout the world. Clematis 'Red Pearl' has reddish pink, large flowers with long creamy yellow anthers in the centre. The colour of the sepal is bolder down the middle, fading to faint lavender edges. It flowers between June and September and will grow and climb up walls, fences, trees, sheds, garden arches and pergolas. Height: 250cm (98). Spread 90cm (35). Pruning group: 2.

This large, late-flowering Clematis bears unusual purple red blooms from July to September. The compact habit of Clematis 'Rahvarinne' makes it ideal for growing in patio containers and on obelisks. This vibrant variety is easy to maintain; simply cut it back to almost ground level once a year. To keep the velvety petals from fading, grow Clematis 'Rahvarinne' in semi-shade. Height: 2m (6').
