A Clematis of distinction, Clematis 'Etoile Violette' has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is a variety that is perfect for scrambling amongst mature trees and shrubs. It has a profusion of deep violet purple, flowers, with five sepals and creamy yellow stamens in the centres that emerge in midsummer and last until autumn. In autumn some of the flowers grow attractive fluffy seed-heads. Its long stems and 10cm width flowers enables it to climb amongst plants without overpowering

Clematis 'Etoile Violette' is a large deciduous climber, growing up to 4m in height. The 'Violet Star' flower can be up to 10 cm in width, with cream coloured stamens. It belongs to the Viticella group of clematis, which are cut back to 20cm above ground level, to a strong pair of buds, in early spring. Flowers July-September. Height 250-300cm.
